The Schoolie has completed another successful trip out west. We traveled through Tennessee to pick up TTU's Baja and equipment. We stopped at the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas along the way. The competition in Portland and Washougal went well with second place in land maneuverability, but it didn't make it to the books due to a technicality. The Baja 2009 car also finished the endurance race, even with two separate flip over incidents. Early Monday morning the team left Portland to meet up with the formula team in Michigan. The Formula 2009 car looked and performed better than we had hoped. It produces 72 horsepower with our Garrett turbocharger. We made it through tech at Formula MIchigan in record time, and managed to place 9th in cost, tied 29th in design and 54th overall. Unfortunately we did not finish the endurance race, but are excited that we did complete half of the event where 42 teams did not attempt it. USF racing is back in Tampa preparing for our trip to Wisconsin. The departure date for Baja Wisconsin will be Tuesday June 9th, the hour has yet to be determined but will probably be sometime in the evening and as for Oregon we will be leaving as scheduled. We expect to return sometime between Tuesday and Thursday of the following week. |
